Gym Shoes

I just wanted to touch base with you again...the school year is approaching very quickly!

We will be participating in gym again this year, which means that everyone will need gym shoes.  Gym shoes don't necessarily need to be new shoes, but they should be a pair that is dedicated just to gym class.  This means that the shoes are completely clean (no rocks stuck in the bottom) and are not worn outside, just in the gym.

See you soon!

One last supply...

When I was at Target today I thought of something that I should have added to the school supply list--antibacterial wipes.  With the flu seasons we have been having we really need to think about cleaning our classroom regularly and that means disinfecting EVERYTHING.

If you would like to donate a container of disinfecting wipes (like Clorox wipes) to our classroom we would all greatly appreciate it.

Back to School Letter

Dear Students, Parents, and Guardians,

I would like to welcome you to the fifth grade! My name is Kelly Engman and I will be back at Babbitt-Embarrass for another wonderful year. This blog is something that I will keep updated often so check back for updates even before school starts!

Just a little about myself...

This will be my third year at Babbitt-Embarrass. I have thoroughly enjoyed working here, even though I live so "far away" in Virginia. I really love meeting the families and getting to know the students. I have never worked in a school with such wonderful parental support! I am also surrounded by a wonderful staff who I am privileged to work with.

When I am not thinking about teaching I spend most of my time with my family. My husband Scott and I have two boys, Ethan (4) and Cameron (2). We have been working on "sharing" this summer. It seems there are never enough cars to go around (even though there seem to be "millions" lying around their rooms :) ) The boys both have red hair so they are known around our house as "the red-hair pair" or sometimes just "The Reds". We also have a large, but lovable, beagle named Carmela. She also has "red" hair! She is a red-ticked beagle and is very lazy!

I took my first trip out of the country at the beginning of summer vacation when my husband and I took a cruise to the Bahamas. It was a wonderful time. I have a lot of pictures to show you when we talk about the islands of the Caribbean!

I really have a passion for reading. I have finished many books this summer and plan to read quite a few more before the summer is through! I hope that you have also read a lot and met your reading goals. There is still a lot of "summer" left to get that done before school starts.

Before we know it we will be sitting in our desks talking about all sorts of important stuff! I can't wait! Enjoy the rest of your summer, though. Fall is approaching quickly. :)

Take Care,
Mrs. Engman
