Our Poetry and Punch program will be starting at 12:00 tomorrow, Thursday, April 29. Please take the time tonight to practice your poem. Remember to not only have it memorized (by heart!) but to recite it with expression. You may dress up and have props. Be as creative as you wish!!

Today's Assignments:
Spelling: Complete the editing sheet about Money and the Most Embarrassing Moment
Reading: Final copy of "ABC" poem
Enstrom Studios will be here next Tuesday to take pictures of our whole class. Money envelopes will be sent home today if you are interested in ordering pictures. They just need to be returned by next Tuesday morning.
MCA tests are completed...now for the rest of the year!
Remember to keep practicing your Poetry and Punch piece. The event is only a week away! A general schedule will be coming home soon.

Spelling: Unit 2 review packet. We will have a review spelling test on Friday with twenty of these words. I told the students to study the ones that they were unsure about and to write them down from their packet.
Math: MCA review
Geography: Chapter 11 WS
Please get a good night's sleep tonight and go to be early if you can! Tomorrow is a big day! You'll do great on the MCA!

Dear Parents and Guardians,
The end of the school year is approaching quickly. We have just finished the first round of MCA II testing this week and are preparing for the math tests next Tuesday, April 20, and Wednesday, April 21. Please encourage your child to do their best and help them to get a good night’s sleep before the tests.
We are going to have several events happening before the end of the year. The dates are listed below. These dates are all “subject to change” and if there are any changes I will let you know.
Thursday, April 29—Poetry and Punch
Monday, May 24—Elementary Science Fair (starts at 1:30)
Wednesday, May 26 –Spring Music Concert
Friday, May 28—Elementary Field Day
Tuesday, June 1—Elementary Awards Day
Wednesday, June 3—Last day of classes
Students should have their poem for Poetry and Punch chosen by Friday, April 16. Practice for their poem should be done at home or during free time in school. I will not be setting class time aside for poem practice. Students should also be thinking about a project to do for the Science Fair. I will only be allowing a day or so for in class work. All other work time should happen at home. If your child needs materials they need to come see me and I will try to help them in any way possible.

One down, one to go...
The MCA II reading tests are almost complete. That means we only have one test remaining, the MCA II math test. This test will be completed on Tuesday, March 20, and Wednesday, March 21. Please remind your child to do their best on the test and to take their time. Please help them to get a good night's sleep before the test and eat a healthy breakfast, too!

Spelling
We will not have "regular" Spelling lessons during the MCA testing weeks. The normal Spelling schedule will resume the week of April 26th.
During the MCA weeks we will have some review activities for words that we have previously studied and we will have tests on these Fridays on words from previous tests.
I will post words on the blog for you to study for the Friday tests or you may study from the review assignments during the week.

MCA Testing
Just a reminder that MCA testing starts next week for Reading and the week after for Math. Please get a good night's sleep the night before the test and make sure to eat breakfast on those days. Do your best always!
