A whole month of school has almost passed, and next week is midterms already!  Time sure does fly!

It's picture day tomorrow.  Please make sure to send the picture envelopes with money included or pre-pay online.

Today the sixth grade used our new curriculum online service.  If you want to check out the website it is www.my.hrw.com.  You should have your password and login to use the service.  I passed those out today.

The fourth grade went to a website offered by Scholastic to play a game related to Charlotte's Web.  The address is http://www.scholastic.com/charlottesweb/perfectword.htm.

The fifth grade spent time getting to know the Learning Readiness students today.  We are going to be "reading buddies."  I was impressed with the interactions that the students shared!

Happy Tuesday to Everyone!

We had a great day in school today.  There was a great discussion about vocabulary used in the book "Frindle" and we found we really know the difference between fact and opinion.  Today there is a little homework:

Spelling: Word Hunt--find four words per category
Reading: Find five vocabulary words and give a definition and example of each
Complete the "Give Me Five" worksheet with the "Wall Street Journal"
Math: Practice test
Geography: non

Reading Grade 4: Read Chapter 10 in Charlotte's Web and complete the vocabulary and generating questions worksheet

Reading Grade 6:  Inferences worksheet due tomorrow

Good Afternoon,

Just a few things to remember:

Picture Day is on Friday, September 30.  There is an envelope to order pictures in your Friday folder.  You may bring back the envelope any time next week.

Please remember to bring your folder back, signed on Monday.

Our new spelling series is new for everyone.  Together we are working on learning about the process of the series.  I will send a detailed note home next week outlining the expectations and procedures for the different assignments.

I just have to say that we have an AWESOME group of kids here at Northeast Range.  I have really enjoyed getting to know each one of them.  :)

Reading 5: We took a quiz on "Frindle" and worked on our vocabulary posters.

Good Afternoon!

Here are today's assignments:
Reading 5: Find 6 vocabulary words to examine from chapters 2-8 in "Frindle"
Reading 4: Read chapter 5
Reading 6: No homework tonight (for those with missing or make up assignments please complete those for tomorrow)
math: Lesson 1.7, book and workbook
Social Studies: Finish Maps
Spelling: Complete a second word sort, either on your own or with a buddy.  Have a parent or adult sign your sort to show that you have completed it at home.  Bring back your spelling notebook tomorrow.


Remember we are attending a play tomorrow at Tower.  We will be eating lunch here at school and then riding the bus over.  We will be back in time for dismissal.  Please return the permission slip if you have not done so already!

Grade 4 Reading, Grade 6 Reading 9/12/11

Grade 4:  Today we read chapter 1 in Charlotte's Web and talked about the plot and characters.  Tomorrow we will focus on the vocabulary from the story.  We also worked on our writing for our "how-to" book.

Grade 6: Complete the comprehension worksheets, for homework, for the story "The School Play."  Have those completed and be ready to discuss them tomorrow during class!

9-12-11

Today,we talked about the book ''Frindle''. Then we went to music and talked about 9-11. We made flash cards in math, and for homework is reading (Frindle, chapter 1 Sentence Search worksheet) and find 3 vocabulary words from chapter 1 to share in class tomorrow.

September 8

Today we went outside and read . We also had an assignment in math which included WB page 1.2 and in your textbook page 6 #1-12. We continued our project on making globes in social studies. Then we took pictures for our birthday poster. We had music and we got to play his piano.

Good Afternoon,

We created our first "tweet" today as a class...and we had fun doing it!  I hope we have some followers. :)

Today there were a few assignments for the following grades in READING:

Grade 4: Read the Jack Prelutsky poems out loud two times and have the person who listened to you sign your paper that you did it.  Return the papers to class tomorrow.

Grade 6: Complete the vocabulary worksheets and start the first story.  You should finish it by Friday.  Tomorrow we will be working on buddy reading and writing in groups. 

Grade 5: No homework tonight, but please return papers to me, signed, by tomorrow. 

Book orders are due soon.  If you are interested in ordering please send cash or a check made out to Scholastic.

Today was a great day....and I have a GREAT class!  For reading remember to complete your surveys and have them ready to turn in right away tomorrow morning.
