I apologise that I have not blogged recently. Last week seemed crazy!
A few notices:
Picture Day is on Friday. If you wish you may send the student's picture order forms early and I will collect them daily or you may just have them bring them with on Friday.
We have MAPS testing on Thursday, September 30. Please make sure that your child gets a good night's sleep the night before and has a good breakfast that day. MAPS testing is important to help me know how to better teach the students individually. We can also measure growth through the school year and previous years. It is an excellent tool!
We started guided reading today. I think it is going to work great. Students may have independent reading assignments throughout the week.
Assignments for today:
Spelling: Week 3 Words WS (The bonus words are engrossing and awesome)
Reading: Guided Reading Assignments for "Feeding Ookie" and the Babysitter Story
Math: WB p. 12 and hardcover book p. 55 (1-22)
Science: Pulley Lab
I will post the spelling words today so you can practice for the pre-test tomorrow.
Have a wonderful evening!
Mrs. E.

I hope everyone enjoys their weekend. Hopefully it should be a good one! I am almost finished with assessing for reading. I'm excited to be working with small groups in reading. I think that we are becoming better readers every day!
In the folders is the newest Student Handbook. Please take the time to review it and sign the slip located in the front of the book. Please return it on Monday in your folder.
Book orders are due Monday.
Here are the assignments for today:
Reading: We worked on Compass Learning in the Lab
Math: WB p. 9
Science: Lab Safety poster (will finish in class on Monday)
Spelling: Test
Please read over the weekend. I recommend at least 20 minutes a day. We talked about how practicing reading is just as important as practicing any skill. The more you read the better you will become!
Our poet of the week this week was Emily Dickenson. We enjoyed many of her poems about nature and talked about personification.
Hope you have a great weekend! See you Monday!
