Social Studies Project

Here are the directions for the Social Studies project due next Monday, December 1.

Native American House Project

We have been studying the Indians of North America in chapter 4 of our Social Studies book. We have learned about the cultures of several different Native American groups. Each group is different and depends on the animals and resources around them for food, shelter and their every day way of life. In this project we will study the types of homes that different Native Americans lived in. From the list below, choose one type of home/Native American group to research. After you choose the type of home you would like to research, you may choose one of two projects below. The project is worth 50 points and is due on Monday, December 1. If your project is not turned in on time you will lose points for late work. Be creative!

Adobe Apartments/ Pueblo

Longhouse/ Eastern Woodland Indians (Iroquois)

Tepee/ Plains Indians

Large Cedar Homes/ Northwest Coast Indians

Igloo/ Inuit

Project #1: Make a 3-D Model of One of the Homes

Using any materials that you choose, make a 3-D model of your home. You should research what the home looked like and look at pictures to make your model accurate. Be creative with your project!

Project #2: Poster of Your Home
Research what your home looked like and find facts and pictures of the type of house you picked. When you are done researching, create a poster that shows what the outside and inside of your house looks like. If you need poster board let me know. You should include facts about your house as well as the Native American group that you studied. Be creative and use the whole poster. Make it neat and error free.
