We had a great field trip today to Northshore Mining Co. We didn't see mining "in action" because of the shutdown, however, we were able to get right into the pit to examine rocks and check out how water is pumped out of pits. We learned about the continental divide and where the water goes. It was fascinating. I was excited that we were able to get into our own "backyard" to explore what is happening and relate it to what we had been studying.
You may see some interesting "samples" (aka huge rocks) coming home tonight!
Here is today's homework:
Reading: Finish the book "Walk Two Moons"
Math: Chapter 6 pre-test
Social Studies: Chapter 11 Chapter Tour
Science: Simple Machines projects (due on Wednesday)
I can't wait for Ironworld on Friday!!!
Have a nice evening,
Mrs. E.
