Writing Center: Autobiography
Use the questions below to write an autobiography that tells about your self-portrait. Your self-portrait gives information about your personality. It may show an event from your life or you may have symbolic things that link to special events in your life.
Your description should be about ¾ to a page in length. Your rough copy needs to be edited for spelling and punctuation. Use the questions below to guide you through the description. Tell about yourself and why you drew yourself the way you did.
When you are finished, place your description in the folder on the Writing Center table.
• What objects do you show in the picture? What do they represent?
• What colors did you use? Why did you choose those colors?
• Who has inspired you in your life? Why? What have they done?
• What can you tell us about your personality?
• What materials did you use to create your picture?
• Did you use any particular style to create your self-portrait?
• Do you like your self-portrait? Why or why not?
• If you could change your picture, what would you do differently next time?
• How does your self-portrait represent you? What makes you unique?
